Tarling Road provides 44 affordable homes ranging from virtual family town houses facing the park to apartments with a view of the Thames cable car. The high-density scheme sits in a sensitive urban setting adjacent to the Listed St Luke’s Church, a primary school and Kier Hardie Park. The project site was assembled from three parcels of land for Sanctuary Housing Association.

Work with the neighbouring school to mitigate any impacts from the development continued throughout the construction period and included creating a new vegetable garden with the pupils.

The listed building is framed by the building and the residents’ communal garden gives it space to breath. Proposals include the creation of a new pedestrian route through the site to link with Canning Town, Activity Street adding to the wider regeneration of the area.
